We are looking for someone who built strong engineering fundamentals before the widespread adoption of AI coding agents—someone who can confidently read, write, and debug code independently, while using AI coding agents as a productivity enhancer rather than a dependency.
-5–10 years of software development experience.
-Generalist mindset, comfortable switching between different technical domains and not tied to a single technology stack.
-Hands-on experience using AI coding agents as part of the daily development workflow, with a solid understanding of their strengths, limitations, and best practices for using them effectively.
-Strong open-source culture, including active use, contribution, and self-hosting of open-source software. This is a core cultural fit requirement at Vates, not simply a nice-to-have.
-Strong written English skills (required). Communication with our teams in the United States and Italy, as well as part of our internal documentation, is conducted in English.
-Self-driven, with the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with non-technical stakeholders.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Business Development, Sales, or a related field is preferred; equivalent professional experience in IT channel sales will also be considered.
• Proven experience (3-7 years) in IT channel sales, partner management, partnerships, or indirect B2B sales is mandatory.
• An established professional network within the French IT channel ecosystem is strongly expected, including existing relationships with relevant local actors.
• Strong understanding of multi-level IT sales models involving vendors, distributors, partners, resellers, integrators, and end customers.

-Business proficiency in French and English, spoken and written, is mandatory.

Bachelor’s degree to a Master’s degree in Computer Science, software engineering, software development, or information systems with 2 both 5 years of experience on development project in langage OCAML. Or several years of experience without degree. A professional experience in development within an open source environment is appreciated.

Fluent English.

The ideal candidate profile is oriented towards senior technical integration work at the intersection of product, partner ecosystem, and solution delivery.

• several years of experience in solutions engineering, integrations, technical partnerships, field engineering, or product-adjacent engineering
• hands-on experience building and maintaining real integration artifacts
• strong partner- or customer-facing communication ability
• enough seniority to challenge weak assumptions, refuse out-of-scope work when necessary, and escalate cleanly
• enough practical delivery skill to turn a partner technical conversation into a working artifact within days or weeks when the work is in scope
