Mission

Vates is a French software company specializing in Open Source and virtualization, with a strong commitment to open and collaborative development. Our main projects, Xen Orchestra and XCP-ng, cover the entire virtualization stack — from the hypervisor (Xen) and the virtualization platform (XCP-ng) to virtual machine management and backup (Xen Orchestra). Our company operates in an international environment, working fully remotely, fluent English required.


Join a passionate engineering team where open-source principles, technical excellence, and collaboration drive innovation. As a XAPI Developer at VATES, you will contribute directly to the evolution of XCP-ng, a leading open-source virtualization platform.


Your Responsibilities :

-Design and implement new features in XAPI

-Define and drive the technical roadmap for XAPI

-Optimize the performance and reliability of XAPI

-Analyze and resolve technical issues identified in XAPI

-Provide ongoing support and maintenance for XAPI and XCP-ng

-Participate in XAPI as an open-source project: review contributions, maintain the CI, take care of LTS branches

-Write technical and functional documentation

-Write automated tests

-Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external projects




Required Skills :
-Experience in OCaml or with another functional programming language

-Proficiency in Git

-Experience in Linux, distributed programming or systems programming


Nice to Have

-Experience with testing environments (Jenkins/pytest)

-Experience in Open-Source projects

-Knowledge of virtualization

Location :
Our offices are based in Grenoble or Paris, but we operate on a fully remote model to provide greater flexibility and daily work comfort.

Qualifikationen

This position is ideal for a software engineer who enjoys working close to the core of a virtualization platform and tackling challenging technical problems.

We are looking for someone with:
-Bachelor’s degree to a Master’s degree in Computer Science, software engineering, software development, or information systems
-5 years of experience on development project in langage OCAML or several years of experience without degree.
-A professional experience in development within an open source environment is appreciated.
-Fluent English.
