Transitioning to the next chapter of Xen Orchestra
Vates announces the retirement of legacy Xen Orchestra subscriptions by July 2026, inviting users to transition to the unified Vates VMS model with dedicated migration paths and early upgrade discounts.
As we’ve been announcing over the past year, the transition from our legacy Xen Orchestra subscriptions to the unified Vates Virtualization Management Stack (Vates VMS) is now entering its final stage.
We’re announcing the gradual retirement of our legacy Xen Orchestra subscriptions, specifically the Starter and Enterprise tiers, by July 31, 2026.
This change is part of our ongoing effort to simplify our offering and deliver a more consistent experience across the entire virtualization stack with the Vates Virtualization Management Stack (Vates VMS).

Why this change?
Over the past two years, we’ve evolved from a standalone management solution to a fully integrated platform that combines:
- Xen Orchestra,
- professional support for your XCP-ng infrastructure,
- access to optional services like XOSTOR, XO Proxy, and airgap support.
Most of our customers today manage both the orchestration and hypervisor layers together. Our goal is to provide stronger, more consistent support by treating XCP-ng and Xen Orchestra as a single, integrated platform. Both components now work so closely together that supporting them separately no longer makes sense in practice.
To keep things simple and coherent, the legacy Starter and Enterprise tiers will reach their end of life on July 31, 2026.
Smooth migration with upgrade discounts
To help you prepare, we’re offering a progressive discount for customers who transition from legacy to bundle:
- 50% off for upgrades before November 30, 2025
- 30% off for upgrades before December 31, 2025
- 15% off for upgrades before June 30, 2026
These discounts apply to all Vates VMS bundles — Essential, Essential+, Pro, and Enterprise, excluding optional add-ons. You can also choose a multi-year subscription to lock in your discount and gain better cost predictability over time.
Tailored transition paths for complex infrastructures
We’re aware that some of our long-time users operate large-scale infrastructures with many hosts running on XenServer or XCP-ng sometimes without active support on the hypervisor layer.
For these environments, moving from a legacy Xen Orchestra subscription to a fully supported Vates VMS model can represent a significant cost increase if done all at once.
Our goal is not to impose an abrupt change, but to help you plan a realistic and progressive transition.
That’s why our sales team is available to discuss dedicated migration paths, including phased upgrades, tailored bundles, or specific coverage strategies, ensuring the transition fits both your operational and budgetary constraints.
Thank you
To all our long-time Xen Orchestra users, thank you.
Your trust and feedback have shaped our products from the very beginning. We’re committed to making this transition clear, supported, and beneficial for your teams.
